I don’t enjoy finishing things

But I do enjoy starting them.

A half-painted clown

(oil on canvas)

staring at me from the window,

A just-started, yellow canvas

screaming to be covered,

both 6-months old,

A box of chainmail, pliers and charms,

A shirt that has been stitched to another shirt

and then taken apart again,

but not fully,

Tap shoes sitting on faux wooden floor-board

covered in dust,

These are just the things I can see at the moment.

The pang of guilt I feel for not finishing any of my projects

is not my own.

I abandon them with glee

running to the next,

You cannot make me finish them.
